Wedding Bells In the Air

This weekend I get to not only watch my baby sister get married but I also have the honor of being her Maid of Honor. I can't begin to explain the bittersweet feelings that rise seeing the once little blue eyed beauty that fit in my arms, becoming. Not only becoming a woman, but a whole WIFE.

This brought me to a thought about sisterhood, particularly being the oldest sister. Little did I know at the young age of eight, that she would be setting some foundations I carry with me as a parent. How she taught me love outside of myself because when I met her for the first time, in that moment, I learned there is more to life than just I. She also taught me how to kiss the booboos, stop and smell the roses, and even how some rules are worth breaking because cookies before dinner....man, they just taste so much better. Am I right?

As I cry into a box of tissues, she is teaching me once again the special moments in life. How her hands no longer fit in mine, and she is starting her very own life, but she is also teaching me that no matter where life may take us, she will always be the one who taught me to love outside myself.

So cheers to sisterhood, marriage, and most of all, love.
