Between Violence & Valor

Between Violence & Valor is a poetry collection born in the tension--
the space where pain meets perseverance where silence breaks teeth,
and where love sometimes looks like war.

This is not a quiet book. It does not ask for forgiveness or permission.
It is an exploration of what it means to be powerful, to be loved
fiercely, and to survive...

The Garden Beneath My Grief

There is a kind of beauty that only blooms in the dark.

In ”The Garden Beneath My Grief”, Sh’Quelle opens the gates to her inner
world--where sorrow softens into strength, and pain petals into poetry.
Through raw, intuitive verses, she explores the tender spaces between
motherhood and womanhood, love and loss, roots and rebirth.

These poems speak in...

Thoughts and Rambles. As many, and what I assume some of my followers know

As many, and what I assume some of my followers know I am actively in the medical field, specifically, mental health. I have always believed in mental health, it was never a taboo topic for me, and I have always been fascinated with why people do what they do/how the brain works.

Consequently, I found solitude in poetry when I was going through some of the most challenging mental health crisis's that I didn't know how to manage or even how to feel. Poetry gave me a space to put all my...

Hello, let's catch up. Yea? Whewww, the end of the year turned into one

Whewww, the end of the year turned into one hell of a time.

The last I spoke was October 8th, 2025 (checks past post in embarrassment). So lets do a quick little catch up:

October 2025:

I enjoyed the spooky season. Enjoyed it a little too much honestly because I full embraced the fall, the spooky season, and my pumpkin spice. Started physical therapy from the August accident, went to the beach, took some pictures at a wedding (a fall beach wedding is everything I needed it to be), and I watched...

Full Moon and Chaos The full moon, in my opinion, may always bring some

The full moon, in my opinion, may always bring some level of chaos. I know my fellow medical professionals can contest that the hospital and patient demands are always at in an influx come the full moon. However, the question is, why? The scientific answer is, the moon is responsible for maintaining our oceans, so it is only far to say it influences us and well, with chaos specifically, it always comes in tides.

Now, the side bar to this is that with chaos always comes a little bit of...

Events

Starting this year off with Poetica and keeping the streak going. An event close to my heart not because the art is incredible but because Dev curated such an incredible community of poets, artists, and authors that you really feel like home. If you are in the Charlotte area, come out to Poetica at The Wine Loft. We will be gathering at 7pm until around 9pm.

I find comfort here, you should too!

All my love,

Shay
