As some of you know, outside of being an author, mother, wife, student, and employee I also add photographer to that list too.
This weekend I had the opportunity to photograph some amazing athletes at a volleyball tournament. I walked away with some amazing photographs but also remembered some of the best memories from when I played. One of those memories triggered when the team I was shooting was 24/23 on the scoreboard and down to the wire. I remember when I played these moments hit HARD. However, I watched these girls cheer on their team, play hard, and most of all prevail. Sitting in that energy it reminded me of my writing.
Sometimes when I find myself in-between sentences, I get that feeling of not being good enough. That feeling of 'this could be it' and it is nerve wracking. However this weekend reminded me, it's not over until the buzzer and even then, you have that round of redemption. So I sit here, with a reminder that if you have a dream don't let the thought of not being enough plant its roots. Instead, dig deep, cheer yourself on, and do not give up until you hear that buzzer and even then, keep playing your heart out.
After all, you have that dream in your heart for a reason.
All my love,
Shay
